Table & System Checklist
A practical before-, during-, and after-session checklist for Voidmasters running games in The Void.
Before Starting the Game
Follow this checklist during setup and the 30-minute arrival window:
- Punctuality Gold Bonus:
- Award all players who arrived on time half their character level in gold ().
- Remind players during setup, as they frequently forget to log their punctuality bonus!
- Character Readiness:
- Verify all characters are at full Hit Points and shields are fully repaired.
- Hero Points:
- Grant each player 1 Hero Point at the start of the session.
- Grant +1 additional Hero Point at your discretion for players who contributed to the wiki, created player resources, or assisted with session logistics.
World-Specific Hero Points
Additional hero points should only be awarded for contributions pertaining to your world. Do not award extra hero points for effort put into other worlds unless you explicitly deem it appropriate.
- Downtime Activity Resolution:
- Each player resolves 1 Downtime Activity before embarking on the adventure (see Downtime Activities):
- Earn Income: Roll a skill or lore check to earn living wages.
- Craft an Item: Work toward crafting or repairing equipment.
- Retraining: Swap feats for valid alternatives (ancestry, class, and heritage cannot normally be retrained without special GM discretion for low-level beginners).
- Earn Reputation: Undertake local tasks in worlds with faction reputation systems to build renown.
- Roleplay Research & Prep: In-character study or reconnaissance regarding specific monsters, NPCs, or regional hazards.
- Each player resolves 1 Downtime Activity before embarking on the adventure (see Downtime Activities):
- Table Comfort:
- Ensure drinks, water, and snacks are available, and all players have character sheets, dice, and miniatures or tokens ready.
During Play
- Track Combat & In-Game Time:
- Use the combat tracker and clock module on the left side of the Guild interface to track initiative rounds.
- Advance elapsed in-game time according to your world's calendar (or adjust it manually next to the "Edit Session" buttons).
After the Session (Wrap-Up)
- End Session & Award XP:
- Navigate to "End Session" > "Confirm & Award XP" on Guild.
- XP is automatically awarded to attendees and your designated GM character (250 XP).
- Distribute Loot:
- Add expedition loot to the session summary following the Treasure Guidelines.
- Guildmaster Region Bonus:
- If a character holds the Guildmaster rank for the region where your session took place, assign them in the session summary so their region benefits are registered.
- Void Objective Contribution:
- Calculate and submit the party's contribution to the monthly Void Objective.
- Session Report:
- Encourage the party scribe or record a debrief for the archive following the Session Reports Guide.
