Downtime in The Void
Every player character participating in a session of The Void resolves 1 Downtime Activity preceding the expedition.
Standard Downtime Options
Choose one of the following activities before setting off on your next adventure:
- Earn Income: Practice a trade, perform, or use Lore/Crafting skills to earn wages based on the settlement's task level.
- Craft an Item: Spend downtime crafting consumable items, permanent equipment, or alchemical items from acquired formulas.
- Inventor Feat (Inventing): Characters with the Inventor feat can spend downtime to invent unlearned items (and craft them in the same DtA on success) or craft shareable formulas for 0 gp.
- Learn a Spell: Wizards, magi, witches, and other prepared spellcasters can spend downtime transcribing new spells into their spellbooks or familiars.
- Retrain Feats: Spend downtime to retrain and replace one or more existing feats with different valid feats of the same category and level.
Retraining Restrictions
Ancestry, class, and heritage selections cannot generally be changed through normal retraining. Special exceptions may be granted by the Voidmaster for first-time players or very low-level characters refining their build concept.
- Earn Reputation: Venture into local settlements or faction holdings to perform tasks, diplomacy, or services to build renown and standing on worlds utilizing the Guild reputation system.
- Roleplay Research & Investigation: Spend downtime in archives, libraries, or taverns conducting research on a monster type, planar hazard, historical ruin, or NPC ahead of time to gain useful in-game context.
