1. Inventing and Crafting an Item
When using downtime to invent an item for which you do not possess a formula:
- Inventing Check: You roll 1 extra Crafting check to invent the item.
- Success: If the invention check is successful, you can immediately attempt to Craft the item in the same Downtime Activity (DtA) by supplying the normal material costs and rolling the standard Crafting check.
- Failure: If the invention check fails, the Downtime Activity is lost (the same as failing a crafting check).
2. Crafting and Sharing Formulas
An inventor who knows an invented formula can record and copy the formula to share with other adventurers:
- Crafting the Formula: To share an invented formula, you must "craft" the physical or recorded formula itself.
- Crafting DC: The Crafting DC to produce the formula is the same as the item's standard Crafting DC (see Craft an Item).
- Time Required: Crafting a formula requires 1 full Downtime Activity (DtA).
- Material Cost: Requires no resources or materials ().
- Distribution & Access: Once crafted, the formula can be shared by the player. The player can choose to freely share it with the entire guild or restrict access. The standard restrictions for formulas in The Void apply, except access is dictated entirely by the player with the formula.
3. Crafting DCs & Rarity Adjustments
Inventing checks and formula crafting checks follow the standard Level-Based DCs (PF2e Remaster Table 10-4) based on the item's level:
- Uncommon items: Usually Item Level DC +2.
- Rare items: Usually Item Level DC +5.
- Voidmaster Adjudication: The Voidmaster handling the downtime activity has full discretion to set, modify, or decide the final DC depending on the item and circumstances.
