Formatting on the Wiki
Learn the supported Markdown formatting conventions, wikilinks, task lists, LaTeX math expressions, and callout blocks used on The Void Player Wiki.
Core Formatting Rules
- Third-Person Player Perspective: Always write from the player's objective knowledge, never from a character's in-game point of view (no first-person "I/We walked into the cave").
- Zero Emojis: Do not use emojis in titles, headers, callouts, or body text.
- Clean Heading Hierarchy: Use standard Markdown
#for main titles and##/###for sub-sections.
Formatting Examples
1. Internal Wikilinks & Aliases
Connect notes across the wiki using standard double brackets:
[[Ouroboros Inn]]links to the article titled Ouroboros Inn.[[Ouroboros Inn|The Local Tavern]]links to Ouroboros Inn while displaying custom text "The Local Tavern".[[Sythian]]automatically routes to the campaign world page.
While typing in the web editor, matching article names are suggested in real time. Press Tab or click the suggestion popup to automatically wrap your text in double brackets. You can also type [[ anywhere to search and insert links without memorizing exact note slugs.
2. Text Styling
**Bold text** for emphasis or key terms.
*Italic text* for book titles, spells, or foreign phrases.
~~Strikethrough~~ for deprecated information.
`inline code` for technical terms or dice notations like `1d20 + 7`.
3. Lists & Task Lists
- Unordered bullet point
- Nested sub-item
1. Numbered sequential step
2. Second sequential step
- [ ] Uncompleted task or open investigation
- [x] Completed task or resolved quest
4. Markdown Tables
Organize structured data cleanly:
| Location | Region | Danger Level | Primary Faction |
| :--- | :--- | :--- | :--- |
| Ouroboros Inn | The Crossroads | Safe | Guild Staff |
| Sunken Caldera | Sythian Wilds | High | Ashbound Cult |
5. LaTeX Math Expressions
Render mathematical formulas and loot splits cleanly using KaTeX syntax:
- Inline math:
$\frac{1}{2} \times \text{Level gp}$ - Block math:
$$
\text{Total Gold} = \frac{\text{Loot Value}}{N \text{ Players}}
$$
6. Obsidian Callouts
Section off crucial notes, warnings, quotes, and quest questions:
> [!note] General Note
> Informational context about the setting.
> [!tip] Practical Advice
> Helpful advice for players or GMs.
> [!warning] Cautionary Warning
> Important alert regarding rules or hazards.
> [!quote] Voidmaster Citation
> Word-for-word quote directly from a Voidmaster.
