Persistent Living World

The Void is a Living World, Persistent Campaign. It is a shared world run by multiple game masters (called Voidmasters). Your character will continue to exist across different worlds, gathering loot and experience along the way.

Free Sessions & Kobold Membership

Everyone can play 1 session per month completely free!
If you want to play more than 1 session per month, you can become a "Kobold"—the community membership from Tarragon. The Kobold membership is available on tarragon.be for 10 euro per year on your account. Your support helps keep our physical tables, venue, and community resources running, and is greatly appreciated!

How to Get Started: 5 Steps to Play

Follow these five simple steps to join the campaign and get to playing:

1. Create an Account

Create an account on the Guild Portal or on Tarragon.

  • You can register using your e-mail, Discord, or Google account.
  • Accounts can always be linked afterwards. Having a Discord account linked means you will automatically receive pings and notifications for sessions and campaign updates.
  • The account system on https://tarragon.be is identical to https://guild.tarragon.be, so an account created on either portal works for both.

2. Create Your Character (or Placeholder)

On the Guild Portal, click New Character.

  • Fill in your character name, ancestry, and class.
  • Placeholders are completely fine: If you haven't made or finalized your character yet, feel free to use placeholder information! You can always update it later.
  • If you need assistance building your character, you can always ask us for help in the #ouroboros_inn or system channels on our Discord.
  • Review the system-specific character creation guidelines below before playing.

3. Select & Join a Session

Browse the upcoming session list on the Guild Portal for the day you want to play.

  • Make sure to check the start time and the session physical location / table.
  • Select your character from the dropdown menu and click Join.

4. Join Discord & the Session Thread

Join our Discord server and check the corresponding thread for your session.

  • Here you can discuss tactics and expedition details with your party.
  • Organize carpools or ask for a ride to and from the session venue if needed.
  • Coordinate dinner plans, discuss expected loot, or ask the Voidmaster any preparation questions.

5. Show Up & Play

Show up at the venue on time with your dice, character sheet, and excitement. We'll handle the rest!

Character Creation Rules

We support two distinct game systems in The Void. Characters are system-specific, but all adventures take place in the same persistent multiverse.

Pathfinder 2e Remastered Rules

  • Starting Level: Level 1.
  • Ruleset: We use PF2e Remastered. Outdated CRB/APG legacy material and Battlezoo content are not allowed. No Legacy Flaws or alternate ability score boosts.
  • Character Options: Use Common choices only. Any Uncommon or Rare choice requires Voidmaster confirmation. No Pathfinder Society (PFS) Limited or Restricted content.
  • Ancestries & Heritages: See Ancestry & Heritage Exemptions for a pre-approved list of non-standard ancestries.
  • Creation Tool: PathBuilder 2e is recommended for building and managing your character.
  • Progression: XP-based advancement. See XP Table.

Dungeons & Dragons 2024 Rules

  • Starting Level: Level 3.
  • Ruleset: Updated 2024 core rules. 2014 character options are permitted but must use updated 2024 spells, feats, and weapon masteries/properties.
  • Ability Scores: Point Buy for stats. Ability scores increase by +2/+1 or +1/+1/+1 (regardless of species/background).
  • Free Starting Feat: 1 free feat at character creation (excluding Ability Score Increase feats).
  • Disallowed Content: All Homebrew, Unearthed Arcana, Adventure-specific backgrounds/feats, Partnered Content, and Strixhaven are not allowed.
  • Creation Tool: Ask a Voidmaster for an invite to the official D&D Beyond campaign.
  • Progression: XP-based advancement. See XP Table.

General Campaign Rules & Etiquette

  • Team Player: Your character must want to go on adventures, cooperate with others, and be a team player. You are all part of the same organization. All characters must be good-aligned or good-motivated.
  • Self-Sufficiency: You are responsible for knowing how your character's abilities and spells work.
  • Loot & Equipment: Buy items between sessions. See Treasure & Equipment Rules for reward formulas and purchasing limits.
  • Session Reports:
    • Wiki: Objective, information-dense, bullet-listed expedition logs (grants XP and rewards).
    • Discord: In-character, creative narrative accounts.
    • Review Session Reports Guide for full details.
  • Multiple Characters: You may create and maintain multiple characters.
    • Useful for trying new classes or taking part in lower-level or higher-level expeditions.
    • XP and items are non-transferable and remain bound to the individual character.[1]
    • Having a backup character prepared in case of death is strongly encouraged (see Death & Resurrection).
