Geography and Economy
Most of the empire is desert and dunes. Cities are sustained by magical irrigation and aqueducts. The coastline produces enchanted glass, gemstones, and alchemical reagents.
There are desert natives living outside the main cities that the party hasn’t met yet.

Capital and Education
The capital is Sharan. It houses the University of Nine Stars, a center for magic and law. Education is mandatory in most cities; literacy and debate are highly valued.
The culture prizes order and dignity. Many follow the solar deity Esharun.
Military and Magic
The military is ritualized and uses arcane support. Elite orders include the Flamborn Phalanx, Crystal Guard, and Obsidian Eye.
Magical scrying is used for surveillance to catch magical incidents early.
Magic is regulated. Commoners cannot use necromancy, but nobles have access to all schools. Most spells require a license from the University or military.
Deities of Zenith
Esharun and his brother Naulaz, serve as a ying-yang relationship. Being the Sun/Shadow respectively.
