Zarratras

ORIGIN: Kalogeron

Overview

Zarratras is a skeletal wizard with a calm manner and a sharp mind. He speaks politely, chooses his battles carefully and rarely wastes a word or an action.

He is hard to miss. A deep purple cloak hangs from his bones, and he is draped in golden chains and heavy rings, worn openly as a display of wealth. Those who look closer may notice that much of that gold hums faintly: many of the pieces hold stored magic.

Background

Before he was bones, Zarratras was a living, breathing human wizard, travelling with an adventuring party.

That party led him to a fight he knew they could not win: a red dragon. Zarratras argued against it. He knew better, and said so. His companions insisted, and he went with them anyway.

The dragon's fire found him first. He did not escape it.

That should have been the end of his story. A soul like any other, he drifted toward the rest that waits for all the dead, but he never arrived. Something reached out and pulled him back, and he returned in a body of bare bone, with a purpose that he keeps to himself.

He does not speak much of where he was, or of who brought him back. When asked, he only calls her Mother?.
